Due to family illness, I am closing down the Religious News Online site. I'm sorry to be doing this, but my attention and focus now needs to be elsewhere, and I can't find the time or will to continue to update the site.

Stopping Spam and How To Post A Message

Hi.
Lately, there has been a massive amount of spamming of the news (what
you're reading now) comments, and of the forums. Because of this,
and because of my desire to not force people to register here, I have
added some measures to this site, to stop it.
Please read on for details, or you may find it confusing and difficult to reply to a news story, or post in the forums.

Hey.
It's really quite amazing how many people submit adverts for websites, books, movies and products to this site. I've always turned them down.
But, I've made a new forum board for such things, and it's available here.
I will strictly control what I post there and given past history, most submissions will be unsuitable. The first entry there is a book review which the publisher's hope you'll find interesting enough to buy the book. :) The author is Michael Berg.
If you have something you'd like posted there, email me and we'll chat. Depending on what it's about, I may put it up. If you want it featured on the main page with all the news articles, mention that and we'll talk about it. I'm bribable. :)

Ongoing spam of news stories

Hi.
Due the ongoing abuse of this webboard with spam being constantly posted to news stories, I have implemented some checks to try and prevent this. The checks *only* occur when you try and post a comment and as hardly anybody ever does, it should be totally no issue for almost everybody.
If you do get nailed by mistake, *please* contact me and I'll sort it out.

I've done a bit of a site upgrade, which you should notice from a small rearranging of some on-screen sections, and added a much needed Recent Comments block on the right of the web page.
If you notice any problems, such as missing comments or stories, PLEASE let me know. It's looking good from what I can see.

Comments on stories and Spam

It seems somebody has taken a dislike to this site and is filling stories with spam.
Please, if you notice some inappropriate comments, such as advertising or something offensive, please email me or use the feedback form.
On the other hand, going through the some 1000+ spam comments, I found a lot of conversation going on in old stories. For those who have bothered to write and found no response, I'm sorry. I think we'll need to work out some way to highlight old stories with new comments, so as to stir conversation. Some of the postings have been very insightful and interesting.
You can always use the message boards if you choose.

I've reactivated the forums. On the right hand side of the webpage you will see the most recient posts made to the boards, and you can make your own too.
Feel free to write in them. If there is not a board for a religious group you want to write about please let me know and I'll see about adding it in.

Due to some reported bugs and due to a general interest in stuffing around with something NEW, I've upgraded the blogging software that runs this site.
There will most likely be problems but they should be very quickly dealt with. Please be patient and report any problems to me via email or in the forums or just reply to this news article. The most obvious upgrade problem is that the forums are now DEAD, damn it. Mind you, they were hardly ever used, so now is your chance to have a say. Should I replace them, or drop the forums all together?

Hi there.
Every now and then people send me a story to post, which is great. I would like to encourage everybody to do that. But some of the submissions are just not religious news. They promote a book or a theologicial view point, which is not what this site is about.
Rather than just delete stuff like that, I've create a forum just for stuff like this. You can find it by clicking on this link here.
Have a look at it. If you submit a story and I don't post it to the main page, the chances are it'll end up in there.
