We already have a plethora of fake gods anyway. If it was written "Jesus" on the waves, Christians would see it as a sign and so on for other religions. Its up to us to interpret it anyway we can, added by our already ingrained beliefs. Do you want to believe?
What is an act of nature? Science can explain the "how" something occured but never the "why" part. Why did it occur? God knows. And only He knows. God works in mysterious ways.
